Welcome to the 2019-20 school year!
The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains.
The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.

- William A. Ward

I am excited for another year at Pleasanton High School!
I will be teaching the fabulous students of our community College Prep English, Journalism, and KEY-E.
In College Prep English, high school seniors receive instruction on the English IV TEKS in addition to essential knowledge in order to improve integrated critical reading and writing skills through engagement with a variety of texts across content areas and genres. As a result, students will be able to develop and express ideas clearly and effectively to communicate with various audiences for various purposes and occasions.
Journalism and Print Image Tech 1 & 2 are designed to introduce students to the fundamental elements of news writing, page layout, and photography. Students will learn the terms and concepts of journalism, including the history of the field and the ethics of journalism.
KEY is an acronym for Knowledge Empowers You.  In this class, students will be taught organizational skills that will help them to be successful in their classes throughout their school day.  We will monitor work and grades in each class in order to ensure success for the year.  We will implement a program that will increase students' reading rate, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
I look forward to being a part of each student's life as an educator.  Together, we will make this a fantastic and successful year.
I can be reached by email at My conference time is 8th period.

A Little About Me
I am an alumni of Pleasanton High School and a graduate of Texas Tech University, where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and minor in English.
This will be my 9th year as an educator. I taught high school English in the Lewisville Independent School District north of Dallas, for 5 years. I also coached cheerleading for 2 of those years. I returned to Atascosa County in 2005 and taught at Pleasanton Junior High.
I resigned from teaching in 2006 and spent 11 years focusing on my family as a stay-at-home mother.  I have 3 sons who attend school in Jourdanton. I enjoy camping with my family and investing time with my boys, family, and closest friends.
