Welcome Eagles! I am so thrilled to begin this school year with you.
In Algebra I, students will build on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) from Grades 6-8 Mathematics, which provided a foundation in linear relationships, number and operations, and proportionality. Students will study linear, quadratic, and exponential data and learn to represent these functions in the form of equations, graphs, data tables, and verbal descriptions. Students will connect functions and their associated solutions in both mathematical and real-world situations. Students will use technology to collect and explore data and analyze statistical relationships. In addition, students will study polynomials of degree one and two, radical expressions, sequences, and laws of exponents. Students will generate and solve linear systems with two equations and two variables and will create new functions through transformations.
This year I will be using Google Classroom, a learning management system that allows me to digitally create and manage assignments. Google Classroom works with Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, and Calendar. Each student has a Pleasanton ISD Google Account, giving them access to these educational tools. Through Google Classroom students can submit assignments, ask questions, watch tutorial videos, and participate in classroom discussions about the learning that is taking place. This web-based classroom allows students to access their assignments and participate in class even if they are home sick or traveling for school-related activities. The Google Classroom App can be downloaded to any phone, tablet, or computer that has internet access. If you would like to receive a summary of your student's work, please send me an email so I can "Invite" you to your child's Google Classroom.
