Announcements

  • Boys Track: You will need to meet at the field house right after school TODAY, to change and get on the bus. Practice will begin at 4:30 at the Jourdanton track, then end around 6:00.
  • Seniors: Would you like to run for Prom King or Queen? See Mrs. Williams or Ms. Mendoza Del Bosque for an application.
  • Seniors: Your Class of 2020 casual panoramic picture is scheduled TOMORROW, January 21st at 1:35 p.m. outside of the sports complex. Pictures will be sold during lunch on January 22nd during lunch. $25 for the large, $40 for the large with a small funny pose and the aerial pose.
  • Juniors and Seniors: Herff Jones will be in the cafeteria WEDNESDAY, January 22nd to take ring and graduation orders.
  • Seniors: Do you still need your meningitis vaccination? See Mrs. Kaiser to sign up and get a consent packet by WEDNESDAY, January 22nd for the Christus Santa Rosa Mobile Clinic, they will be on campus January 29th providing free vaccinations. 
  • Students: Rex Formal Wear will be here January 29th and February 5th, in the cafeteria during lunch to take tuxedo orders. Tuxedos will range in price from $120 to $150, shoe are $15 and don’t forget to add taxes. They will deliver and pick up tuxedos before and after prom.
  • Students: HOSA will have a meeting on January 30th during FOCUS, attendance is mandatory.
  • Students: Do you need drive hours for driver’s ed? Stop by Mrs. Down’s room 203 to sign up on the calendar in the hall.
  • Students: Are you interested in taking driver’s ed? A new driver’s ed class will begin on January 21st. Pick up an application in the front office.

Announcements

  • Congratulations to the Pleasanton High School Chapter of Business Professionals of America. They had an outstanding showing at Regional contest on January 18th at Southwest High School. Sixteen students qualified for State competition in individual and team events. Qualifying in Individual Events were: Kory Caballero – 1st Place – Computer Modeling; Isaac Garcia – 1st Place – Prepared Speech; Mackenzie Pilgrim – 2nd Place – Advanced Interview Skills; Alizay Rodriguez – 2nd Place – Medical Office Procedures; Alexis Ramos – 4th Place – Fundamental Word Processing.  Qualifying in Team Events were: Paige Hubert, Delanee Olivarri and Robert Rutherford – 1st Place – Global Marketing Team; Nathaniel Gonzales, Jordan Haby, Thomas Huizar, Andres Torres – 1st Place Broadcast News Production; Brandi Barnett, Adyson Brymer, Lauren Trapp, Ashlyn Vera – 1st Place Presentation Management Team.  State Alternates in their events were: Lauren Dowdy – 3rd Place – Graphic Design Promotion; Emalee David – 3rd Place – Interview Skills; Conner George – 4th Place – Interview Skills; Harrison Gaenzel – 6th Place – Extemporaneous Speech; Kendall Espey – 7th Place – Payroll Accounting; Rudy Castillo, Cade MacManus, and Cody Mills – 4th Place – Economic Research Team; Courtney Henson and Jazmin Bernal – 5th Place – Small Business Management Team.  Again, congratulations to the students moving on to the State Leadership Conference in Dallas on March 4-7, 2020 and good luck!  
  • Congratulations to Pleasanton High School Powerlifting Team. The Girls’ Powerlifting Team competed at Texas Strength Systems on January 9th.  The following girls placed in their respective divisions: Aurianna Rich placed 3rd in weight class 123 with a total lift of 620 pounds; Lexi Cumberland placed 3rd in class 165 with a total of 675 pounds; Miranda Ovalle was just barely edged out of 3rd place with a total lift of 705 pounds.  All of the girls did well in this first meet and have been working hard and looking forward to our next meet this Thursday at Texas Strength Systems. The Boys’ Powerlifting Team participated in the JV Texas Strength Systems Invitational last Friday.  The boys powered their way to a 2nd Place finish with the following boys placing in their respective divisions: Zander Zamora placed 3rd in weight class 132 with a total lift of 620 pounds; Harrison Gaenzel placed 1st in weight class 148 with a total lift of 1040 pounds and was also named 'Best Lifter' at the meet; Jessie John Guel placed 2nd in 148 with a total lift of 960 pounds; Max Chessher placed 1st in 165 with a total lift of 915; AJ Ayala placed 2nd in 165 with a total of 915, as well; Finally, Diego "Big Show" Anguiano took 1st place in the Super Heavyweight Division with a total of 1265 pounds.  The boys will compete again in 2 weeks. They continue to put in work to make gains.
  • Congratulations to our FFA students, who participated in this year’s Atascosa County Livestock Show. Here are the major highlights:  For Ag Mechanics: Ethan Hayes – Grand Overall; Montgomery Cain – Grand Overall Showmanship; Russell Caraway – Reserve Grand for Refurbished Projects. For Rabbits: Kenley Everett – Grand Senior Showmanship; For Swine: Jayce Krauskopf – Grand Overall Swine; Brendan Olle – Reserve Grand Overall Swine; Garrett Lopez – Grand Overall Breeding Swine; Kinsley Barker – Reserve Grand Intermediate Showmanship; Kendall Niemietz – Grand Senior Showmanship. For Steers: Jayce Krauskopf – Grand Senior Showmanship.

Announcements

  • Students: The library has some free books. Stop by to pick up a few books to keep forever.

  • Students: HOSA will have a meeting on THURSDAY,  January 30th during FOCUS, attendance is mandatory.
  • Attention Seniors!  Who has the best smile?  Who has the best hair?  Who is most likely to succeed?  On Tuesday during FOCUS, you will be nominating your classmates for Class Favorites in over 20 categories.  Nominations will be narrowed down to the top 3-5 people in each category and you will vote for your Favorites on February 4th.  Class Favorites will be announced at Prom!
  • Students: There will be an Informational Cheer Meeting on February 5th at 6PM in the cafeteria. This meeting is mandatory for anyone interested in trying out. Contact Mrs. Roberson for more information.
  • Students: Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. To prevent heart disease and increase awareness of its effects, HOSA is proudly participating in American Heart Month.  On February 7th HOSA encourages you to wear a red shirt to support American Heart Month.
  • Students:  Are you interested in being a foreign exchange student? Traveling to another country in the summer or during the school year? Students…Teachers, are you interested in hosting a foreign exchange student in your home for 3 months during the school year?  See Mrs. Evans in the counseling office or Mrs. Rutherford in the culinary lab to get more information.
  • Students: You can now order the 2020 yearbook. Go to jostens.com or see Mrs. Arnold to place an order. Hurry, before the price goes up!
